Empathic or Practical? What’s your choice?
Today, I’m going to share apps that I use and find helpful as a coach.
I’m a coach, but I’m coached by a top coach. Coaching sessions are usually 4 weeks apart, so it’s not possible to have coaching in your daily life.
Having a conversation with other can really help you organize your thoughts and take a meta-view, so I use AI services as my daily coach.
The AI servcies that I’m using are Dot and ChatGPT!
They’re not specialized only for coaching but they are so useful.
Dot
Dot is an AI service good at empathy, and it’s only available on iOS for now.
Dot remember conversations and questions I’ve asked, and sometimes it asks me backward. Like, “How’s it going that we were talking about yesterday?”, “How are you doing on Saturday?”
I felt like it understood my feelings enough and then returned with good questions. Even as a coach, I’d say it’s almost like coaching questions.
To give you a glimpse, I’ve shared my latest problem: procrastination in learning English.
“You’re my coach, ask me questions and respond to me like a coach,” is a good way to start the first conversation.
If you want to learn English, you can ask questions in English, and it even paraphrases, so you can read the expressions naturally.
In the beginning, it was free for any number of conversations, but nowadays, if you have a lot of conversations, it says to subscribe. However if you don’t have more than 10 conversations a day, just use it for free tier.
Chat GPT
The second is ChatGPT.
If you’re seeking a practical solution rather than an empathetic one and wish to become more organized, consider using GPT.
“You’re my coach, ask me questions and respond to me like a coach,” is a good way to start the first conversation.
The nice thing about GPT is that it has a ‘voice chat’ mode, where you can talk in both Korean and English, and you can have a more natural conversation than the one I showed above. You can even choose your voice tone.
If you have a problem that’s in your head or that you can’t easily talk about with a human, why not try an AI service? If you need more emotional empathy, human eye contact, and listening, then go to a human coach : )
