A letter from Notion CEO celebrating 100 million users
As a user who has been using and loving Notion since before 2018, I’m thrilled to hear the news about reaching 100 million users. But what truly caught my eyes was the CEO’s thoughtful and philosophical message. Having experienced the ups and downs of early-stage startups and the constant pivots, I can almost feel the challenges they faced, and it’s genuinely touching.
I love their philosophy and sincere commitment to building great software for humanity.
That’s why software that helps users is so much more attractive to me than a regular product. I’ve always wanted to build something that helps people, and I hope to one day build my own service that helps people at the intersection of human and technology.
We do all of this because we don’t just want to build a piece of software.
We want to build something that’s great, according to our values.
Something that the next generation doesn’t just have to use, but LOVES.
To quote Steve Jobs, “put something back to the humanity.”
An ode to the computing pioneers: Software can augment human intellect.
An ode to the craft: Software can and should be beautiful.
